Investigated for corruption and money laundering by the Supreme Federal Court (STF), the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Eduardo Cunha (PMDB-RJ), now have to also defend the Council of ethics of the House. The Board established this Tuesday process that can lead to the forfeiture of the peemedebista's mandate for involvement in the propinoduto of Petrobras. As the investigation can last up to 90 days, a final decision would only be made next year.
Wedge became the target of the Board of Ethics after PSOL and join Network with action calling for the removal from Office for breach of parliamentary decorum with suspicion against him-the peemedebista was quoted in statements from investigated by Operation car wash as a beneficiary of 5 million of resource variances of Petrobras. The Legends claim that Wedge did not pay information on secret bank accounts held in Switzerland. Worst: lied during testimony to the CPI of Petrobras rightfully have denied owning offshore account.
Rapporteur-this afternoon, were drawn three members to assume the case rapporteur: José Geraldo (PT-PA), Vinicius Gurgel (PR-AP) and Fausto Pinato (PRB-SP). Political opponents of Cunha, Deputy Júlio Delgado (PSB-MG), that competed in the election for mayor against the peemedebista, answered the call of the Chairman of the Board, José Carlos Araújo (PSD-BA), and agreed not to dispute the report.
José Carlos Araújo (PSD) said it will talk individually with the three members and choose one of them by Wednesday. The first function of the rapporteur will draw up, within ten days, a document by the admissibility of research or immediate archival.
Behind the scenes, wedge has already set a strategy to escape immune from the action on the Ethics Board. The first step is hiring a lawyer renowned for taking over the defense of the peemedebista. The function should stay under the responsibility of the former Francisco Rezek. On another front, the Mayor must repeat strategy adopted in CPI of Petrobras and attend to collegiate to provide clarification even before being formally called to testify.
The peemedebista also has in his hands a powerful bargaining tool with the Government and the PT to escape Impeachment: requests for impeachment of President Dilma Rousseff. Although PT members have been responsible for the bulk of the signatures that generated the process in the Council of ethics, the orientation of the party is to adopt caution and, at least for now, save the peemedebista.
Other representations-the Council of ethics still launched on Tuesday against two other members: Roberto Freire (PPS-SP) and Alberto Fraga (DEM-DF), both questioned by PCdoB. Fraga is the subject of complaint by saying in plenary that "woman who hits like man, has to take as a man too." Roberto Freire already got into squabble with the leader of the PCdoB, Jandira Feghali (RJ), and, on occasion, held her by the arm. The classified the parliamentary act as a physical assault.
The representations were filed in may, but were stalled in the Presiding Board, chaired by Cunha, until last week, when they were released to the Board along with the case against the peemedebista. MEPs and the Council of ethics advisors assess the strategy as a maneuver by Eduardo Cunha to overload the work of the Board.
